Project Inspiration: Fair Isle Sheep

Posted by Sarah Price on

This gorgeous little sheep is one I had fun creating last year as a Christmas gift. She involved Fair Isle knitting which is my favourite kind of knitting, and also knitting-in-the-round and Kitchener Stitch.

I chose Alpaca 4ply in Clouds for her head, legs and body and organic merino 4ply in Kundalini and Grapefruit Moon for her "jumper". Both these yarns are non-superwash, therefore classed as a more "rustic" yarn and perfect for Fair Isle knitting. The slight halo that Adagio Mills Alpaca yarn gives produced the desired effect I was after for my sheep, I couldn't be happier with her!

If you'd like the full details of the sheep you can read the full blog post on the blog here.

If you're interested in learning how to knit colourwork designs, bookings are open for the Introduction to Fair Isle Knitting Workshop in Bellingen. All of the details and how to book is here.
