9 Chunky Knitting Projects for Bellissimo 12ply

Posted by Sarah Price on

Bellissimo 12 Extra Fine Merino is the newest yarn to join the Say! Little Hen family. I love this yarn for several reasons - 1. it's chunky, so projects are quick and the larger stitches are great for showing off texture, 2. it's very soft - so, so soft! & 3. it's made from Australian & New Zealand grown merino fleece.
Here are 9 project ideas perfect for Bellissimo 12ply. If you're doing your own pattern search, you'll need to tick 'Bulky' on Ravelry, as this is the American term for 12ply.

I've made this pattern before and loved it. This is a quick and satisfying winter knit, and wearing this cardigan is something I love. I knitted my original Carbeth longer to team with jeans, but I plan on knitting another one using Bellissimo and this time cropping it a bit so it's good with skirts and dresses. The big collar on this cardigan acts like an in-built scarf when you do it up.

This chunky cowl is the perfect weekend or gift knit. If you knit it in Bellissimo 12 you'll really notice that gorgeous stitch texture.
This pattern is free.

This pretty beret has a lovely texture and is also a free Ravelry download.

The ultimate cosy scarf featuring lots of texture and pretty cables.
This jumper embraces simple style and gives a cosy feel to any laidback outfit. Perfect for weekend outings in the warm winter sunshine.

This pretty accessory would be a great gift, and also perfect for using up leftovers from a bigger project. Also a free pattern.

I love the texture and shape of this shawl, and of course those gorgeous tassels! You could knit one just like the photo in Bellissimo Dark Red, or choose whichever colour best suits your wardrobe.

This contemporary beanie is another that would be a great go-to gift project. Quick, stylish and cosy to wear.
You've got to love a quick garment knit, and I can see this cosy sweater becoming a wardrobe staple. You might even need to knit more than one!
